The Financial Crimes Section investigates crimes involving forgery/uttering, embezzlement, counterfeiting of checks/credit cards, financial exploitation of the elderly, and identity theft. The Cyber Crime Division investigates and prosecutes complex criminal cases involving digital evidence, consultation on criminal matters involving technology, and the forensic examination of digital evidence. The Division also works to advance the comprehensive Cyber Crime Initiative, which includes the Massachusetts Digital Evidence Consortium, a working group of law enforcement digital evidence analysts who convene to standardize digital evidence analysis procedures and improve training and information sharing efforts.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Department – Computer And Technology Crime High Tech Response Team (CATCH)

CATCH is a multi-agency task force that apprehends and prosecutes criminals who use technology to prey on citizens. CATCH was formed combining local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies from San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial counties. CATCH cases are vertically prosecuted meaning the same prosecutor handles the case from start to finish. Cooperation between CATCH, other high-tech task forces, and the private sector industry is critical to the success of combating high-tech crimes.

Denver Police Department – Forensic Imaging Unit

The Forensic Imaging Unit is staffed by civilian photographers. The unit handles the digital and video evidence produced by the Crime Lab and Crime Scene Investigators. They assist in the production of displays for Department and the Denver District Attorneyƕs Office. The unit also offers Forensic Video Analysis to assist investigators and other bureaus. They are the staff photographers, who offer training, technical advice, and support for DPD.
