Virginia State Police – High Tech Crimes Unit
The High-Tech Crimes Division (HTCD) was created in an effort to consolidate the agencyÕs multiple cyber initiatives under a single command, and enhance the agencyÕs capacity to conduct cyber-crime investigations, digital forensic analysis, and child exploitation/pornography investigations. This endeavor incorporates High-Tech Crimes Section with agents from each geographical field division, the Computer Evidence Recovery Section, the Northern Virginia/District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (NOVA-DC ICAC), and the Technical Support Section.
Virginia National Guard
The Virginia National Guard (VANG) has the largest single Cyber entity in the entire National Guard *174 total personnel). The VANG currently has 38 personnel mobilized on federal missions in support of US Cyber Command and Army Cyber Command. The VANG convenes Virginia’s Cyber Response Working Group, which is made of representatives from state, local, and federal agencies, as well as the Governor’s office.
Campell County Sheriff’s office – Computer Forensics
Campbell County has trained personnel to investigate computer forensic crimes, including identity theft.
Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit – Rhode Island Cyber Disruption Team
The Rhode Island Cyber Security Initiative works to address gaps in protecting critical infrastructure within Rhode Island from cyber attacks and cyber terrorism related events. The investigators prevent, protect against, detect, respond to and assist in the recovery of cyber terrorism related incidents. The Initiative also assists in the assessment of risks to Rhode Island’s critical cyber-infrastructure, identifying potential means of cyber attacks and recommending protective controls for critical information systems.
Pittsburgh High Tech Crimes Task Force
The Pittsburgh High Tech Crimes Task Force is a unit of consolidated federal, state, and local law enforcement, created with the purpose of pooling technical and investigative resources in order to prosecute cases, and provide forensic examination, intelligence, and technical assistance to agencies encountering computers during the course of their investigations.
National Cyber Forensics Training Alliance
NCFTA was created as an extension of the Pittsburgh High Tech Crimes Task Force. NCFTA is a non-profit corporation focused on identifying, mitigating, and ultimately neutralizing cyber crime threats through strategic alliances and partnerships with Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the public, private, and academic sectors.
Utah Department of Public Safety – Cyber Crimes Unit
The mission of the State Bureau of InvestigationÕs Cyber Crimes Unit (CCU) is to investigate the criminal use of computers and related technologies. These crimes include but are not limited to computer and network intrusions, unauthorized access, data theft and Internet fraud.
New Jersey Office of the Attorney General – Statewide Computer Crime Task Force
The Statewide Computer Crime Task Force is comprised of members of the New Jersey State Police High Technology Crimes and Investigations Support Unit, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, and Marlboro Township Police Department. Each of the participating agencies has agreed to assign personnel for a period of six months, during which officers conduct proactive and reactive computer crime investigations.
New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell (NJCCIC)
The New Jersey Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell (NJCCIC) is the StateÕs one-stop shop for cybersecurity information sharing, analysis, and incident reporting. Located at the Regional Operations and Intelligence Center, it brings together analysts and engineers from the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, the State Police, and the Office of Information Technology to promote statewide awareness of local cyber threats and widespread adoption of best cybersecurity practices.
