Lab capability: Computer and internet crime investigations
Wisconsin Department of Justice
The Criminal Litigation Unit provides advice and assistance to law enforcement and prosecutors on a variety of issues including specialized areas such as ICAC and other computer crimes. Unit attorneys also review and comment on criminal related legislation. In addition, DCI Special Agents, criminal analysts and support staff work as a team to investigate computer-related crimes.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office – Regional Electronics and Computer Investigations Unit (RECI)
RECI is a multi-jurisdictional task force designed to successfully identify and prosecute electronic or computer-related crimes. Currently, RECI is comprised of Investigators from the Hamilton County SheriffÕs Office and the Cincinnati Police Division. RECI works closely with local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the Greater Cincinnati area. RECI is a core component of the Greater Cincinnati ICAC Task Force.
Office of the Attorney General – Child Predator Unit
The Child Predator Unit is a group of specially trained agents and prosecutors across Pennsylvania to identify and capture online predators before they can harm children.
Riverside Police Department – Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech Response Team (CATCH)
CATCH was formed to help combat computer-related crimes such as network intrusions, computer hacking, theft of trade secrets, counterfeiting and piracy, telecommunications fraud, and theft of high tech related equipment and cargo. There are five regional task forces covering 31 counties within the State of California.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation – Computer Crime Unit
The OSBI Computer Crimes Unit was created to address the increasing number of computer crimes in Oklahoma. The Unit provides specially trained Agents to investigate computer crime and perform forensic examinations of digital evidence.
Eugene Police Department – Financial Crimes Unit
The Financial Crimes Unit consists of five detectives and one sergeant who investigate felony-level financial crimes. Financial crimes which include computer crimes, forgery, counterfeiting, fraudulent use of a credit card, employee embezzlement, and identify theft.
Office of the District Attorney – Computer Forensics Unit
The Computer Forensic Unit is assigned to the Pennsylvania State Police Central Area Computer Crimes Task Force, as well as the Pennsylvania ICAC Task Force, with the primary purpose of responding to crimes committed through the use of a computer in any of its forms.
Pittsburgh High Tech Crimes Task Force
The Pittsburgh High Tech Crimes Task Force is a unit of consolidated federal, state, and local law enforcement, created with the purpose of pooling technical and investigative resources in order to prosecute cases, and provide forensic examination, intelligence, and technical assistance to agencies encountering computers during the course of their investigations.
Pittsburgh Financial Crimes Task Force
The Financial Crimes Task Force is charged with the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses involving split-deposit schemes, counterfeit checks, internet fraud, stolen government checks, identity thefts and identity take-overs within Southwestern Pennsylvania, placing an emphasis on organized activity. The task force is committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting offenders, of these financial crimes, in state and federal courts.
